The Town of Oro Valley AZ is nestled between the Catalina and Tortolita Mountains north of Tucson, Arizona. The Town of Oro Valley AZ was incorporated in 1974 and today about 40,000 people call Oro Valley home. Oro Valley sits at an elevation of 2,620 feet so it is a few degrees cooler than central Tucson. Oro Valley is an upscale community with median household income of $71,628, making it one of the highest per capita incomes in Arizona.

Oro Valley Recreation, Parks & Hiking

Oro Valley Community and Recreation Center.

The new Oro Valley Community and Recreation Center has an extensive list of amenities including swimming pools, tennis courts, cardio and strength equipment, fitness classes, the La Vista Restaurant, and most importantly the golf course. The Oro Valley Community and Recreation Center has three golf courses perfect for both novice and expert golfers, all with spectacular Santa Catalina mountain views.

Canada Del Oro Riverfront Park.

Open 6:00 am to 10:00 pm, the 30 acre Canada Del Oro Riverfront Park has everything you need for a perfect family outing. The park has sand volleyball courts, covered ramadas, shaded playground area, grills, drinking fountains, a basketball court, restrooms, softball and soccer fields, a walking path, and an equestrian staging area.

Archery Range.

The new Archery Range is open sunrise to sunset. This is a bring your own equipment facility with 28 targets, open at all ages and skill levels. You can either purchase a day drop in pass or an annual pass.

James D. Kriegh Park.

The 20 acre James D. Kriegh Park is open from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm. James D. Kriegh Park is the only public off-leash dog park and only park with racquetball courts in Oro Valley. Other amenities the park offers are sand volleyball courts, a covered ramada, shaded playground area, grills, picnic tables, drinking fountains, restrooms, baseball and multipurpose fields, a concession stand, and birding trail.

Oro Valley Aquatic Center.

The Oro Valley Aquatic Center is Southern Arizona’s premier competition-level facility with a giant water slide, 25-yard recreation pool, 60-meter competition pool, a classroom for parties and meetings, family changing rooms, and a concession stand. You can purchase either a day pass or summer pass. Additionally, there are several swimming lessons and aquatic programs offered by Oro Valley Parks and Recreation.

Catch a movie at Century Theatres, conveniently located in the heart of the Oro Valley Marketplace. The Oro Valley Marketplace is located on the corner of Oracle and Tangerine Road.

The Oracle Crossing Shopping Center located at Oracle and Magee road has many different stores, restaurants, and services to suit your needs. Some of the popular stores and restaurants include Kohl’s, HomeGoods, Sprouts, Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Massage Envy, and Dunkin’ Donuts.

The Harvest.

Locally and family-owned restaurant, the Harvest’s purpose is to bring customers fresh homemade food that is sure to delight their taste buds. The Harvest has both a happy hour(3pm-6pm) and reverse happy hour (8pm-close). The Harvest has many food and beverage options, an extensive wine list, and uses locally sourced ingredients.

Café Torino.

Family-owned Café Torino serves authentic Italian cuisine. Café Torino makes its own homemade pasta and uses family recipes passed down from generations. Café Torino is currently expanding its Oro Valley location in order to expand their menu to include delicious Italian pizza and to add a new bar.

The Keg Steakhouse and Bar.

The Keg Steakhouse and Bar is known for their aged beef. The restaurant has a full-service bar and cocktail hour from 4pm-7pm.

Ventana Medical Systems is a member of the Roche Group, a leading world organization of tissue-based diagnostic solutions for cancer patients worldwide. Ventana Medical System’s goal is to improve the lives and outlook of cancer patients by developing medical diagnostic systems and biopsy cancer tests that will in turn, shape the future of healthcare. Ventana Medical Systems manufactures 220 cancer tests and provides workflow solutions to improve laboratory efficiency and preserve patient safety right here in Oro Valley. Currently, Ventana Medical Systems is the largest employer in Oro Valley with over 1,500 employees.

Honeywell.

Honeywell, a fortune 100 company, manufactures technologies to improve the quality of life of people around the globe by generating clean energy. Honeywell wants to create a world that is more energy efficient which will in turn mold a world that is both safer and secure. Honeywell currently is the second highest employer in Oro Valley, with over 800 employees.

Oro Valley Hospital.

The Oro Valley hospital is a large facility with both inpatient and outpatient care, diagnostic imaging and emergency medical and surgical care. It’s located right in the heart of Oro Valley in order to offer it’s service, care, and overall be a place for healing for the residents of Oro Valley.

Innovation Park – Oro Valley.

The Innovation Park in Oro Valley is a 565 acre campus home to many of Southern Arizona’s biotech companies, including Ventana Medical Systems and Sanofi, two if the worlds’ largest pharmaceutical companies. It is currently a bioscience hub that is constantly expanding.
